Spunding Valves
Spunding (sometimes called bunging) is the process of trapping the naturally occurring CO2 that is created during the fermentation process. It is absorbed into the wort as it turns into beer. The spunding valve maintains a set pressure in the fermenter to naturally carbonate your beer, working in a similar fashion to a pressure relief valve. The pressure gauge indicates how much pressure is in the vessel. The clear cup can be filled with sanitizer or water to maintain a sanitary environment during fermentation. The end result is a perfectly carbonated beer.
ARCHON offers several models of spunding valves. The standard connection size is 1.5″ triclamp. DIN connections are also available. Left or right side connections can be specified for optimal gauge viewing.
Picolino is our smallest size with a spunding capacity of up to 60 bbl. Kellerfee is mid-range at approximately 170 bbl. Vario is our largest spunding valve with up to 838 bbl capacity.
